Practice Areas

Business Law

First and foremost, your focus is your business—as it should be. What Rhode Law Firm provides is that peace of mind that comes with knowing you have a highly skilled, well-versed lawyer in your corner for the day-to-day legal matters that do arise. Contract review, phone conversations, meetings, and those preventative measures that help you avoid costly litigation, this is what we focus on.

Employment Law

Employee related and workplace issues are nothing to take lightly, especially with the growing scope of today’s regulations. Simply glossing over employment issues or not giving them the due diligence they deserve can be very expensive. We are on top of it, so that your business can continue to run smoothly.

Litigation

The object is of course to be proactive and ultimately avoid litigation if possible. If the time does come and a legal dispute ensues, your best defense is an attorney who has been there with you, carefully reviewing and evaluating all relevant material as well as helping to ensure necessary documentation. The foundational work pre-litigation is what counts.

OVER 40 YEARS OF PROVEN SUCCESS

We represent both private and public sector clients in the areas of Employment, Business and Litigation law. It’s not about billable hours, it’s about fostering the kinds of relationships that enable businesses to function seamlessly and with a greater handle on the current legal climate. Shari’s clients benefit from her personal assistance and from the fact that she truly does react to their unique and specific needs.

Frequent Q & A

How do I know if I need to talk to a lawyer?
If you are asking yourself this question, then you probably should at least consult with a lawyer to see if there is some way one can assist you.
Do I only contact a lawyer if I want to sue someone?
No! A lawyer can help you understand your rights, your obligations, explore your options and address concerns or business opportunities.
How do I find the right lawyer for me/my issue(s)?
If you know someone who has had similar issues, you can ask how they felt about their choice of lawyer; check with someone you trust and respect for a recommendation; look for a lawyer experienced in the area of law in which you want help. Like many professions, lawyers have experience or concentrate in different areas, such as employment issues, personal injury, divorce, and real estate among others.
When I contact a lawyer’s office, what should I expect?
The first time you contact a lawyer’s office, you will be asked for some basic information; this is so the attorney can determine if she has a conflict or if there is some other reason she is not the lawyer for you.
If I get an appointment with the lawyer, does that mean she will represent me?
No. When you met with the attorney, she is trying to determine if you have a legal issue she can help you with.
When I meet with the lawyer, what should I take with me?
When an appointment is made for you, the lawyer’s office should tell you what to bring. If they don’t, ask. This will help make your time more effective with the lawyer. Also, be sure to carefully think about what you want to know as a result of the initial meeting. Make a list of questions for the lawyer. The only silly question is the one you don’t ask.
